Writing, Research, & Technology

For these readings we were asked to pay close attention to the place.  In Gopnik's piece his place is in Eurpoe, while Joyce's piece is in America.  What makes these places stand out is the attention to detail the authors have to them.  Gopnik's childhood in winter is played out scene by scene.  Each scene consists of an event with vivid detail.  It even goes as far as to describe the chipping paint of the carousel.  Joyce's piece takes place right before summer and skipping school.  The details shape the story because you feel like you are a part of it.  I really enjoyed reading both of these pieces.

In Pagnucci's reading he talks about a life story.  That life story is about comic books, a lot of comic books.  He talks about how he reinacted them, how he read them, where he read them, and how he attempted to write them.  Writing them was is his first step in his writing history.  The part of the story that stuck out to me the most was where he would read these infamous comic books.  He discussed how his father was building the family a new house and how his brother would help where he could.  Pagnucci would almost sneak off down a hill and read his comic books under a big tree at the bottom of this hill.  It got me thinking of where I like to read now.  My favorite places to read are outdoors, especially the beach.  I feel that the natural sunlight helps my concentration.  Most of my reading now a days takes place in my room, just because most of the reading I do is school related.  I hope to venture back outdoors when the weather warms up.  Hopefully, reading more outside will help get the creative juices flowing.   dragging in elements from the top bar.
